Palestine:
Sacred land, located along the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
Canaan:
The area of ancient Palestine located west of the Jordan River. The promise land given to the jews. It was INHABITED by the Canaanites.
Torah:
The core of the religion of Judaism. The holy text of the jewish RELIGION.
Monotheism:
The belief in only one god.
Covenant:
A promise between two parties.
Israel:
"The holy land". home to the most holy place on earth, to the jewish religion, jerusalem.
Aramaic:
Ancient jewish language. Originated in northern syria.
Hebrew(s):
A person who lived in ancient Israel and are believed to be a DESCENDANT of jacob.
Exodus:
The departure of israelites from Egypt. THey were led by moses.
Kosher:
The preparation of food meeting the requirements of the Jewish religion.
Rabbi:
A jewish scholar or teacher. Religious leader.
Sabbath:
The time of the week used for extensive prayer and rest in the Jewish religion.
Synagogue:
Jewish religious building used for prayer.
Sin:
An Immoral act.
ten commandments:
the moral code of the jewish people, given to moses by god.
